Loading... Please wait...Nathan Hahn learned to play the guitar when he was 17. He played in many bands over the years and still enjoys getting out and playing when he can. It was his love of music that brought Hahn Amplifiers into existence. Below is the story of how we came to be.
In January of 2007, Nathan (our fearless leader) was a young, recently married, first-time homeowner on a mission to refinish hardwood floors. While tinkering in the garage, Nathan found a table leaf that was left by the old homeowners. It was a fantastic find for our young newlywed since he happened to have an old tube amplifier that needed a cabinet. He quickly forgot about the hardwood floors that he was supposed to be sanding and he went to work on a cabinet.

The very next day, he ran out to the hardware store to purchase legs and paint for his cabinet. He also purchased some fabric for a grill cloth. A few days later, he unveiled his masterpiece to his new wife (who was under the impression that he was sanding hardwood floors).
When his wife’s ears started steaming up, he quickly stated that he was developing a prototype for a new amplifier business that he was starting. Of course, now he had to go to work developing a business around the cabinet that he built.
He quickly convinced his brother, Tim, to hop on board and Hahn Amplifiers was born. Tim and Nathan went to work building their first amplifiers during the summer of 2007. They also worked on re-designing the cabinet.

By early 2008, they had a prototype for the amp and the cabinet. In the fall of 2008, they built their first Switcharoo, designed what would soon become the Short Stack, and went to work on fine-tuning their products.
In early 2009, the first Signet prototype was sold. After that, the final touches were placed on the Signet. The cabinet became solid poplar construction, the paint became lacquer, an ohm switch was added, and some other finishing touches rounded out the new designs. Now, the brothers keep themselves busy building our custom amplifiers and developing new products to be enjoyed by our customers.
